Supernatural: The Sequel -- New Showrunner Sera Gamble Teases Season 6

We've been through the wringer in the last 24 hours, haven't we, Supernatural fans? First we hear that our show will definitely be coming back next season (yay!), then we learn that Showrunner/Evil Genius Eric Kripke will be taking less of a hands-on role in the new season (Aieee!). What does this mean? How will the show change? What's longtime writer and new showrunner Sera Gamble gong to bring to the table?

Well, we can't answer all of those questions, but we can share this interview we had with Sera Gamble at the Superntural 100th Episode party. This was before the news of the pickup came out, so she's couching her answers (to your questions, we add) in speculative terms, but now? Now what she's saying has the potential to be the basis for the new Winchester Gospels. Check it out:

All right, Super-fans -- what do you think? Are you thrilled, worried, intrigued or confused by Sera's answers? Or is it too soon to tell? Talk about it in the comments!

I don't know what the Dean fans are complaining about. Everything in this show is about Dean, his tears, his pains, and his angel. We Sam fans want our share too. Those who don't want to see Sam getting around naked, go and watch something else. and for the record, MANY of us drool about Jared.

So excited that SPN is coming back for a 6th season. Can't wait to see what Sera brings us!!

I'm more excited for season six than ever! I'm glad for both SG and EK -- Sera because its a promotion --Congratulations!
And Eric because he's been in the stressful showrunner seat for five years and now gets a break while still being involved with his creation - best of both worlds!
Can't wait to see where the roadtrip takes the Winchesters next! I hope the journey includes Bobby and Angel!Castiel too.
Oh, and Sera -- my one disappointment about the Kripke years as showrunner has been the complete lack of Winchesters reciting Latin incantations while shirtless -- so, how about a little Shirtless Latin during the Gamble era? ;)
Woot!! Season Six! Congratulations to everybody involved with this great show!!

I'm glad the show will be back for a 6th season, but am less than thrilled by Sera Gamble taking the reigns! She barely remembers there is a character named Dean on the show!

It does not surprise me that Kripke's interest in the series has somewhat diminished. He's let alot of crappy scripts slide through and even though he plays up to the fans by having meta eps, he doesn't give most of us want we really want. Like good plotting, consistent characterizations, some actual follow through on things (there is to much sweeping things under the rug), not throwing one character under the bus in order to prop another etc. Therefore I don't care if he has a less active role in season 6. Still don't want Sera in charge though!

Anyway time will tell what a season six will bring, but with Sera at the helm, I'm less than hopeful!!!

At first, I was thrilled to hear that Supernatural was coming back for a 6th season. And then I heard that we were losing Kripke and gaining Gamble. And now I wish the series were ending at the end of this season. I'm sorry, but Gamble has always been one of my least favourite writers. She is apparently obsessed with Sam - and preferably naked... But most importantly, her episodes frequently have the biggest plot holes and don't seem to "get" the characters - Dean is not a stupid crass buffoon, for example - but maybe that's my bias creeping in...
It is her weaknesses as a writer that have me the most worried about how she will be able to carry an entire season - we've come to expect an exceptional level of quality when it comes to the storytelling on Supernatural - it's what sets it above the other series out there, and I for one will be sad to see the end of that.
Will I watch next season? Probably - until it becomes to painful to do so.

I'm very happy about Season 6, but not about Sera Gamble taking over. Please don't turn this into the Sam-running-around-naked show, Sera. You may drool over Jared, but not everyone does. And if you want to lose viewers at the speed of lightning, try and sideline Dean. This show will sink like a ship!!!!

WoW!Past 1.5 days have been... full of action, to say the least! As excited as I was for the renewal of our show,I am not sure how to feel about Kripke stepping down as showrunner,I dont know how exactly its gonna affect the show on the creative front,I mean I assume that scripts got Kripke's nod before they were filmed. So i am not sure if Sera has the same creative eye & vision as him.
I love Sera Gamble as a writer, she has a knack for handling tender & delicate moments with great panache, but i am not sure if she can deliver the grand & epic moments.

BUT i still trust the show & the brains behind it & I know Kripke wont abandon Supernatural, its his baby for God's sake.I know there will be active input from his side & I really really hope he directs atleast a few episodes in season 6 as well.
This show has survived several blows over the past five years, network's horrible step child treatment, writers strike, actors strike,Kim's devastasting loss, but it kept coming back stronger than ever,so I guess I have developed a blind faith in this show.I hope/pray it wont change.
On a shallow note, with Sera taking charge I am sure we will be getting some nice Sam moments ;)

I am excited to see what they have in store for next season, more than that I am looking forward to the end of this season,I bet its gonna be epic!!
But If the angel &demon & apocalypse arc is gonna end this season, does that mean this is it for Misha!!!I seriously hope not!!!!

All we can do is speculate, but it would do us no good,so in words of Kripke,I guess we need to "stay tuned"!

(P.S. I cant seem to get the player to work,It stops halfway through. Can I see the video somewhere else?? I bet the length of this post didnt suggest that I havent even seen the entire video =D)

No, CandyMaize, you're definitely not the only one. Every time I see it, I get rather emotional. I love everyone that works on the show, and it's amazing to see that love returned to us.

Anyway, I'm so curious to see what happens next season! This season is still gonna be kickass, I know that, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they bring, but I can't wait to see what they're cooking up for next season. It'll be great!

I guess the whole Kripke stepping down thing hasn't been officially confirmed yet (at least, that's what I've been hearing. Who really knows). But if it's true, I'll be okay with that. I trust Sera. She's my favorite writer, and she really just gets this show and what it's all about. I love Kripke, and this will always be his baby, but I also trust him to pass the baton on to someone he deems worthy. Plus, he and Singer will still be a huge part of the show. Sera will just be taking the reigns, a role that she will fill admirably.

Not gonna lie, I did have a little panic attack when I first read that Kripke might step down, but then I actually thought about it a second. Don't worry, Supernatural fans. Everything's gonna be okay! The powers-that-be at Supernatural care about this show too much to let it go downhill. =]

I'm just interested to know if Misha is coming back. First I read an article from May '09 that says J2 and Misha are all contracted through season 6, and then I read articles today saying that Misha's only contracted through season 5 and is "hopeful" that he'll be asked to come back next season. I'm so confused! Someone clear this up pronto!

Presuming news is officially confirmed, congrats to Sera Gamble!

I'm looking forward to not only the rest of *this* season (STILL 8 EPS LEFT!), but also to see what exactly they have in store for us NEXT season.

(Please tell me that I am NOT the only one who still gets a bit teary-eyed when RE-WATCHING these vids and seeing/hearing them thank the fans)

At first I didn't know how to take the news. I wasn't upset, but I also wasn't completely happy. It was really hard for me to grasp the idea of not having Captain Kripke at the helm.

But after a day of thinking, seeing that vid and realizing that I actually love Sera, I've come to the conclusion that i'll be okay with it. Kripke will still be involved and we know he wouldn't pass his baby on to someone who wouldn't take good care of it.
