All right folks, we've entered the voting phase of The Sourcies! We're going to kick things off with a hotly contested category: Favorite Newcomer. The nominees are:
Castiel Supernatural
We were worried about this guy when we first heard about him -- an angel? Really? And is his presence going to mess up the bond between the boys? But he won us over from the first moment he appeared -- and now we can't imagine the show without him.
Davis Bloom Smallville
What's not to love about Davis Bloom? We loved almost every minute that he was onscreen. He's a healer and a hottie, he can stand up to a prying Clark, and he generated some serious sparks with Chloe... OK, fine, he just happened to be the human face of the ultimate destroyer, but nobody's perfect.
Julian One Tree Hill
It seemed like Julian would be a bad guy when we first met him -- but those first impressions were deceiving. We fell almost as hard for Julian as Brooke did -- smart, funny, snarky, great with Sam, a good head in a crisis, and ridiculously romantic. Swoon!
Liam 90210
Pardon us if we lapse into cliche, but we just can't help ourselves. Liam is the sort of guy who was born to prove the axiom that good (and not-so-good) girls LOVE bad boys. This smoking-hot, tortured adrenaline junkie injected just the right hint of danger into the show.
Nina Reaper
Who knew a love-sick, sort-of-reformed demon could be so much fun? She started off trying to kill Sam, and ended up falling for Ben -- which was the cue to let the hilarity ensue. We can'thelp but love this girl!

And the ones who may dislike him are definitely not in "the vast majority" category. Castiel was one of the best received newcomers on any of the abvoe shows. The majority loved him since episode 1, that's why he stuck around unlike the others, not only for a few more episodes, or even the end of the season, but also to become a regular for the entire next season.
Though Castiel won (I am very pleased. He deserved it) I was hoping Davis would've gotten a few more votes. He was way more interesting than Julian. That guy was just like a love interest. Davis had so many layers to him and finding out that you were doomed no matter what you did? Ouch...
He was the best newcomer next to Castiel. Too bad Smallville writers messed up everything Davis Bloom was in the season finale. I just pretend the finale never happened. Davis was awesome and Sam Witwer deserved better than that.
It seems to happen to all my favorite Smallville characters - Jason Teague was ended badly, Oliver Queen is right now almost a villian, and now they end Davis like this?
Smallville writers only made Davis evil because they needed to kill Jimmy and that was a sad excuse to turn him evil last minute.
Anyway, congrats Cas! Still think Davis should've been second place.
I've watched Smallville, One Tree Hill, and Reaper but none of the choices there have as compelling characters to me as Castiel.
Julian while a fun character isn't really very layered to me. He's typical fare. Davis was a pretty great character but the actor grated on my nerves after a time. The only one to give Castiel a run for his money is Nina but ultimately it's Misha's clear skills that make what could have been a flat character with no emotion leap off of the screen and into our homes and make him believable. He's a talent and he's proven that on several shows. I think that with the popularity of Castiel perhaps some more people will take notice. I expect to keep hearing more and more about projects involving people wanting Misha's considerable talents. :)
To be honest he's not even the most good looking guy ever. But his acting is phenomenal and his personality is beyond winning.
This was well-deserved for being such a breath of fresh air on Supernatural.
If Castiel wouldn't have been in this poll, I would have voted Julian for sure. I know other OTH fans from boards and many have said the same. While they love Julian, they just love Castiel more. I think that's where the OTH fans are and why Julian doesn't have more votes.
I love Liam and Julian, but i vote on Cas ^^ he's the best of the best :D I love him from the frist episod. It's soooooo cool he will be regural ^^ I hope he will win :D
but i'm sorry. castiel deserves this sourcie more than anyone. he was the best newcomer and ranked really high among supernatural fans, and those who tuned into supernatural because of him. i have watched all the shows listed, and still say that castiel is the best. he's an intriguing character. he's also mysterious and dealing with a lot of internal conflict with him orders from heaven and what is moral.
julian seems just like a love interest for brooke. i did like some of his snarky comments like when he said 'it must be like 98 degrees' LOL
davis! definitely my fav right under castiel. but i wasn't sure about what to think because of what the smallville writers did to him near the end of the series. is he coming back btw?
castiel is dominating, b/c he deserves it. my friends are madly in love with oth, but agreed castiel wins this. so i hope its not implied supernatural fans only vote for their nominations and same with oth, etc
I can only vote for Castiel, he swept me off my feet! love the guy! every spn episode without him made me a little bit sad cause I missed him so much! He adds a new quality to the show which I didn't think was possible because Supernatural episodes are in general awesome but Castiel is just pure gold! love ya kripke for giving us such a great angel!

Hey, all. In response to Nina's question, yes, we've set up the polls with the best security we can while still allowing easy voting. If you try to vote again, you will get a message that says we've already counted your vote. I'm sure there are ways around this... but I'm not going to tell you what they (or the security measures) are :-)

hmmm, I didn't think it was possible to vote more than once. When I came back here to see if there was a new poll, I saw that the Favorite Newcomer was still up, so I voted again. It gave the percentages, but said that my vote had ALREADY been counted. I took that to mean my FIRST vote only had been counted. Maybe Sarah or another CW Source rep could set the record straight? I am a 23 year old male, and I voted for castiel. Even though i don't believe in god/angels/heaven etc... he is by far the best new addition to the show.

Voted for Castiel of course, Misha Collins really has taken the Supernatural fandom by storm this year and deserves all the credit he can get!
To all those who think Castiel fans are cheating, I've gotta say I'm surprised we don't have MORE votes when considering the number of online communities of Cas-Lovers out there! Mishaland, SPN_Castiel, DeanCastiel, the spn.tv forums, not to mention the 13000+ followers on Twitter..... We all love him.
And to those who genuinely think he's not a well-loved or decent character, boy are you ever in the minority. Castiel's development through Season 4 has been awesome to watch, and if you think he's changed the show away from what you wanted, then consider this: Even if angels hadn't been introduced, Sam would still have been doing his demon thing, Dean would still be coping with his hell memories, and both boys would be drifting apart. All the angels have done is become an intriguing new antagonist and brought along with them the single most kickass plotline a show like this could deal with.
Please speak for yourself. The majority of fans most certainly do *not* hate Castiel. I'm 45 years old; I love the character and how he's enriched the series. Other characters DO NOT detract from Sam and Dean. The show is so much better now in season four than it ever was. Castiel's changed it all right. He's changed it for the better Outsiders? Are you kidding with that, Elle?
I voted Castiel because in my opinion he is the bast thing to have happened to SPN.
People complaining about us Supernatural fans is very tiring. There are quite a few thousand fans in just one community that I have joined so how can it be so hard to believe that we can't reach over 1000 votes without people cheating and constantly voting multiple times. Supernatural is string well written and created show and the polls are cearly reflecting that.
Really people? You don't think a thousand people could possibly vote for Castiel? Millions of people watch Supernatural each week, so gripe about something else. And Smallville writers and producers didn't get Davis's character wrong. He was supposed to be an evil alien killer, not a potential love interest or sweet paramedic. That's a huge duh moment for you. Get a grip.

Sam Witwer!!!! Davis Bloome, he was the best entertaining and interesting character the whole 8 season on Smallville, just because he was meant to kill a lot of people and kill Henry Olsen doesn't make him bad, this is PS3 fault, they don't know what to do with good character's stories, at first they decided he was going to fight against the darkness within but then they just threw Sam's character to the first window they saw. That's unfair. Smallville producers and writers have really dissapointed me. Sam is an amazing actor, his interpretation as Davis Bloome was AWESOME.
I JUST started and finished all of SPN in the past month. While I love, love, love One Tree Hill... Supernatural has won me over so I had to vote for Castiel instead of Julian. But I do love both characters!
I think this is ridicules, people are cheating! You guys really need to figure out how to beef up the security on these polls because this is not a true representative of the way fans are feeling. I am sorry there is no way 1060 SPN fans voted once each! They have figured out a way to refresh their browser so they can vote multiple times. Hey, folks -- I just added this to the main post, but I thought I'd comment onit, too. Yes, the videos will be back -- but since we've got our biggest slate ever, and since we are legally obligated to release our video producer and her minions from their desks and allow them out into the fresh air at least once a week -- we're doing the videos on Mondays and Fridays, and photo posts on Wednesdays.
Tragically, Jason isn't working with us anymore -- trust me, we miss him as much as you do! We wish we could have him back to introduce the clips for us, but it's not to be. Our buddy Jessica Holmes from KTLA will be taking over announcer duties for The Sourcies.
for Elle, I'm 34 years and I love Castiel. Then you can't speak about for "all us fans of the shows" cause I've a lot of others friends who are about 30-40 year's who love Castiel too. Season 4 is the best season so far. I'm so glad Misha will be a regular.
if the vast majority did not like castiel's character, kripke would not have made him a series regular. please dont make assumptions about the majority of the fanbase.
I'm breaking rank as a Smallville fan to vote for Castiel of SPN, but I really think Ari Cohen, Smallville's "Regan Matthews" deserved to be mentioned.

Sam Witwer!!!! I think this is ridicules, people are cheating! You guys really need to figure out how to beef up the security on these polls because this is not a true representative of the way fans are feeling. I am sorry there is no way 1060 SPN fans voted once each! They have figured out a way to refresh their browser so they can vote multiple times. If this is going to be legit in any way then something needs to change, or this is going be like last year all over again. Also, please do not put SPN brothers as best couple b/c that is incest and not a true representative of the poll.

Hey, folks -- I just added this to the main post, but I thought I'd comment onit, too. Yes, the videos will be back -- but since we've got our biggest slate ever, and since we are legally obligated to release our video producer and her minions from their desks and allow them out into the fresh air at least once a week -- we're doing the videos on Mondays and Fridays, and photo posts on Wednesdays.
Tragically, Jason isn't working with us anymore -- trust me, we miss him as much as you do! We wish we could have him back to introduce the clips for us, but it's not to be. Our buddy Jessica Holmes from KTLA will be taking over announcer duties for The Sourcies.

for Elle, I'm 34 years and I love Castiel. Then you can't speak about for "all us fans of the shows" cause I've a lot of others friends who are about 30-40 year's who love Castiel too. Season 4 is the best season so far. I'm so glad Misha will be a regular.

Castiel is the worst newcomer ever he is so infinitely boring to many of us SPN fans who are fans of the brothers and not outsiders other than Bobby. Castiel changes the show I fell in love with and I had to comment to make sure it is known that the tweens voting repeatedly do not speak for all of us fans of the show. A vast majority of us dislike the character.
Not Misha, he's fine, but Castiel is like watching paint dry only I'd probably rather watch the paint if i'm honest.

Castiel is the best newcomer and will be one of the best regular character next season. I love him from the first episod. Misha Collins is the best for playing him. I can't wait for season 5
