The Sourcies Mourn The CW's Dearly Departed
The Sourcies has its black armband on in honor of The Most Dearly Departed: those characters whose death -- or departures -- shook us to the core. We're still mourning the loss of these fine CW citizens.
But before we remember our dead and/or gone, let's take a moment to celebrate the living -- especially those who lived through the Favorite Fashion Guru competition! In a stunning upset, Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass narrowly edged out One Tree Hill's Brooke Davis for the crown. Wow! We didn't see that coming -- Brooke had a commanding lead through the first part of the competition. But whatever Chuck did, he did it well, and he squeaked out a win. Was it the orange separates? The burgundy smoking jackets? The ascots? The short-shorts? We'll never know, but Chuck, we salute you. Brooke -- we're sorry you didn't win the competition, but we're sure Chuck would be willing to console you for your defeat.
Now onto the competition. Which of these dead and/or departed folks do you miss the most? Your votes will decide. Polls are open until July 29 at noon, so get voting!
Jimmy OlsonSmallville Jimmy had a bad year -- his dream wedding was interrupted by an intergalactic killing machine obsessed with his new bride, his wife was covering for a murderer, and he picked up a drug habit to boot. But that was nothing compared to the way Jimmy died at the hands of a rage-filled Davis Bloom. What's more, Jimmy wasn't even really Jimmy. How's that for an insult from beyond the grave? |
Quentin FieldsOne Tree Hill Oh, Q! He was finally turning into a really good guy -- helping Nathan with his comeback, being a boon to the team, and being downright adorable with Jamie. That's why his senseless death -- at the hands of the man who beat up Brooke and kidnapped Sam -- was so shocking. Of course, we consoled ourselves with his ghostly presence for much of the season. RIP, Q |

Bart BassGossip Girl Let's face it: Bart was not a nice man. He tormented his son, alienated his new wife, and kept dossiers on the entire family. But you have to admit that his sudden death shook the Gossip Girl universe -- and sent Chuck on a downward spiral that it took him a long time to recover from. |
Pamela BarnesSupernatural We loved Pamela -- she was the perfect cheeky, hard-rocking medium who wouldn't back down from a fight-- even when her eyes were burned out by an angel. Plus, even after her misfortune, she still knew how to seize the pleasure in life by seizing Sam's ass. THat's why her death -- and her dying words -- hurt us so much. "Tell Bobby to go to Hell?" Oof. |

Charlie HoganPrivileged OK, fine, Charlie didn't actually die. Bur we still went into mourning when we learned that sweetheart Charlie was leaving Privileged. Yes, we liked Megan better with Will, but come on! It was Michael Cassidy! We adore him! |
Jimmy Olson
Quentin Fields
Bart Bass
Pamela Barnes
Charlie Hogan

SPN stop being so bitter. OTH fans stop rubbing it in. You guys all realize that both OTH fans AND SPN fans cheat right? If they came up with a way to make sure it was absolutely impossible for duplicate voting, neither shows would have as many votes as they end up with.
Anywho I never saw the point over fighting over two SEPARATE television shows.
Y'all are rabid. SPN more so then OTH fans though.

Jealousy? I think you're smelling a false victory.

I smell a hint of jealousy

NICE way of cheating OTH fans... leave SN to a lead for the entire time while the poll is active then SWAMP the poll on the day it closes with some automatic voting poll or something and take the win... SNEAKY!!! I really wish somebody would fix these polls so that cheating is not possible!!!

These were copied at 0329, same date. And yes, I did refresh the page just prior to copying them.
Jimmy Olsen - Smallville 3% (270 votes)
Quentin Fields - One Tree Hill 44% (4229 votes)
Bart Bass -- Gossip Girl 1% (87 votes)
Pamela Barnes - Supernatural 51% (4916 votes)
Charlie Hogan - Privileged 1% (71 votes)
Total Votes: 9573
Now over the last half hour, OTH went up 216 votes (7.1 votes per minute) and increased by 1%. For the last hour, OTH went up 426 votes (7.2 votes per minute) and increased by 2%.
Over that same half hour, SN went up 45 votes (1.5 votes per minute) and decreased by 1%. Over the same hour, SN went up 96 votes (1.6 votes per minute) and decreased by 2%.
I can only conclude that either OTH has a lot of insomniac fans or a lot of fans overseas who vote before or at work, or are using the automatic voting code.
But now, anyone can check exactly how much the votes are changing, and determine just how quickly. Decide for yourselves if 7 votes a minute, each minute for an hour, is humanly possible.Next time, check the results for yourself and use the time I've given. Then just divide by the number of minutes total.

Wow, OTH got 210 votes in 30 minutes, increased by 1%. Which figures out to 7 votes per minute.
Supernatural got 51 votes, decreased by 1%. And that figures out to 1.7 votes per minute.
Let's see what the next half hour brings, shall we?

I voted for Quentin because his death actually came as a shock to me. Yes, I loved Pam and Jimmy just like everybody else but their deaths weren't very shocking. I mean on shows like SPN and SV, people are bound to die.
But Quentin grew so much as a character, he helped other characters grow and he was only a teenager and he got murdered just like that. Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly made me cry so much because it showed how everyone got affected by his death.

Had to vote for Pam. I loved her character and was pretty upset when she died.

I love both SP and OTH, and i felt bad for pam, but im voting for Q. his death was sooo sad and unexpected.

I agree with Megan. Pam's death was a little sad but it's SPN we are watching. Most of the characters die eventually. John or Adam were better contenders. Even though 'Adam' was only in one episode I really liked him and saw potential with the character it's sad that he died. I will definitely miss Adam and John. Those were sad deaths, Pam's not so much. I liked Pam but her death was like any other death on the show.
I never cared for Bart Bass but his death was unexpected and he left Chuck as an orphan. Ed Westwick did a great job acting out his scenes following his father's death though. Bart's death wasn't really sad, but Chuck's reaction to the death was sad.

Q's death was really sad and unexpected. I cried watching "Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly". The only good thing about that storyline was that it brought about some good acting from the cast. I cried when Haley/Lucas/Nathan/Skills meet Q's mom. It was a good emotional scene. His death was even sadder because he was young and had a bright future ahead of him.

gotta vote for Q on this one. his death was so unexpected, and he was finally changing himself for the better :( but it was always good to see him pop up from time to time as a ghostly appearance to keep Nathan on track :)

Gotta be Pam! Poor woman was asked to help the Winchester brothers as a favor to Bobby. lost her eyes in her effort to see Castiel's true form, then lost her life when the brothers dragged her back into the fray. She was bitter about it, too, as she should have been. Not only did she die way ahead of her time, she never got her threesome with Sam and Dean!

I love, love, LOVE Supernatural with everything in me, but my vote went to Quentin. His death was shocking, heart-wrenching, and actually brought on tears. Pam's didn't. Don't get me wrong, I was a little upset when she died. But it wasn't the end of the world. Hah! "wasn't the end of the world." Anyone else find that funny?
Now, if this went all the way back to the beginning of season 2 of Supernatural and put JOHN on the voting list, then YES, I'd vote for him. Or maybe even Adam from season 4? That was a sad death. Yeah. But not Pam. Her death was more of a "Yeah, she's been on too many episodes. She needs to die soon. We've got an image to uphold, after all!" Plus, she's a woman. Being a woman on Supernatural always ends in death.
Where was I going with this?
Oh, yeah. Anyway, I went against my heart and soul and voted for Quentin.

I had to vote for Q. How sad was it when he was shot to death. I had tears falling when was killed. To make it worse was that he was only a teenager.
