One Tree Hill Podcast: "You Dug Your Grave, Now Lie In It"

Listen Now

One Tree Hill was all over the place this week -- just like the characters, who were mostly all living in their own world. But Jackie, Mia and I are together on our disappointment with the episode. But hey -- at least Nanny Carrie is finally gone for good! (We hope.)

Peyton, to Brooke:

Nanny Carrie puts her fiendish plan (which, Dan is quick to remind us, sucks) into action and lures Haley and Jamie to her house of horrors. Fortunately, Deb and Dan are there to help out, because Nathan is checking out a basketball team far away, Lucas is off dealing with book stuff in New York, Peyton is worrying about her maybe-dad, and Brooke is confronting her feelings with the help of her shrink. Oh, and Millie's back ... but where's Mouth?

Find out what we really think about the Nanny Carrie storyline (in case you couldn't guess), hear our ideas for Brooke's new venture (hint -- it showed up on America's Next Top Model last season!), hear the evidence we discover that proves Peyton's paternity, and findout why Lucas is really skipping Chicago on the book tour.

Listen to our One Tree Hill podcast for "You Dug Your Grave, Now Lie In It" and let us know what you think in the comments!

Yay for the Peyton defending! Thank you for that. I agree with what you said about Brooke. It's time for her to do something about this. If she's going to keep it to herself then she needs to be a little less salty to all her friends.

The Nanny Carrie thing was so anti-climatic. We didn't even see Haley get to take one swing at her! All I wanted was one good punch. It was so lame. Glad it's over.

Also, does anyone else think it's funny that Sam's homeless yet she somehow found a way to enroll herself in school without a parent or a real address. If I were a homeless teen I'd be more worried about making money/getting food then going to school.

I am so glad that Deb hit Carrie with that bottle of wine/champagne with a name I can't even pronounce. lol I think Haley should have brought Skills sure Dan and skills hardly spoke but I thought he should have been there to support Jamie and Haley. I hope Dan tries to get back together with Deb. That would be so interesting and funny. And since Skills is in the picture that would be something to watch. You can tell that Brooke is gonna invite Sam to stay with her afterall she has a spare room going. I know I'm missing all of the Brucas moments hope I'm not the only one. great podcast yet again

I like this podcast, it was so hilarious. I love the part about 'Drama Queen' so that was obviously Peyt's dad.

I'm glad Leyton doesn't have a lot of scene together. Not trying to put Leyton down but if their together I don't want to see much of them being a Brucaser, it makes the show easier to watch.

I also want Brooke to tell one of her friends about the robbery. I love all of her friends except for Peyton obviously but I think they are the most slowest people that I've seen on TV. I mean when you fall down the stairs I doubt you get black eyes and finger marks on your arms. You get broken bones.

Haley/Jamie/Dan/Deb/Carrie was interesting and I am so glad that it's over! It was such a wasteful storyline.

Peyton is such a weirdo. She know that the dude is her father so why is she making a candlelight dinner and putting on slow music. Was she going to confront him or screw him?

I thought this Podcast was awesome and you girls rock!

hey gr8 podcast.
definatly less jamie and mroe naley/laley. also if u guys whatch season 2 and 3 of oth u will know y we love mouth. its easy to judge after 1 season and his small roles in s5 where EVERYONE was so far removed from thier original stories. anyhoo another gr8 story and this was a thrilling, fun ep!

Whenever I look at the picture you out here I always confuse Peyton with Lindsey!!! That's strange! :)

Great podcast as always.

One thing. Am I the only one who taes Owen on the show?! I heard he's back next episode... I wish it would be Jake.. I miss Jake opn the show. I think it's not fair to forget the character like that. It's interesting how things worked out for him. We haven't seen him for pretty long time.

elizabeth, you're not alone! peyton has always been my favorite character too and also i agreed with every single thing that you said about lucas and peyton and brooke.

i can't say it enough, great podcast you guys! i know you always say you get yelled at for your opinions, but it's so much fun to hear things i would have never thought of!

Sarah with the spoilers! No! Not cool! I had to skip over when you talked about the James interview. And now somebody's ex, who's ex, that's all I'm going to be thinking about until next Monday- curses.

About the show not being Lucas-centric anymore, one I say thank god, and two I think they've realized that the other characters are more interesting than him. Lucas is a boring character. All the guys are except for Dan. All the guys just let the women make things happen around them, or get into little situations and then slowly pander out of them. That's why Dan is so fun to watch, besides the evil. He's a do-er. The girls are waaay more proactive than Lucas or Nathan, or even than Jake was or Mouth was, or even Skillz for that matter.

Amazing podcast as usual! You 3 are seriously so fun to listen to...always brightens up my day when you guys make a new podcast for One Tree Hill. Anyways, I had a question. I was wondering if you 3 could please, please, please do pod casts for seasons 3 & 4, too. It would be awesome if you all could. Thanks. :)

I agree... I am a die hard Lucas fan but they are writing him horribly! It's almost like he's on a different show! He has no real role with the other characters... even Peyton. I really hope they allow him to be involved in some of the juicier storylines!

And SOOO glad that Nanny Carrie is Dead and way to go Deb! I've always loved Deb, even in her bad days=p

So, i already sent this in an e-mail to jackie, mia and sarah, because i just couldn't wait and the podcast wasn't on here yet. so, here's what i said:

it's kinda funny because I think I'm the only person
that's interested in Lucas and Peyton's storylines, whether they're
together or their seperate storylines. However, this week Lucas bugged
me and I'm gald yal pointed this out. In the few scenes they had, I did
get a big feeling that she's so much more excited than he is. Especially
the scene where she goes to see Brooke, she was just so happy. I really
hope that he gets more excited about it, because Peyton doesn't deserve
that. I love Peyton, she's always been my favorite character and she
definitely deserves more than what's she's getting from Lucas. I thought
maybe at the end of the episode, he would come back and comfort her or
something, because her dad didn't show up. That would have kinda
redeemed him, but no luck. Rather, we saw a little love note from lindsey in
his book, eww.

Another thing I totally agreed with you on, (I think Jackie said
something about this) was how Brooke was acting in that first scene with
Peyton. I'm sorry, but if my best friend came and told me she had set a
date for her wedding, I would be a little bit more happy! Plus, asked me
to make her wedding dress! what the hell? Yeah, I know she's going
through stuff, but she hasn't told Peyton about any of it, so if she's
not going to tell Peyton she should have at least put on a good face and
pretended to be excited. And the comment about the skanky wedding dress,
i think that's what she said. It's good Peyton has a sense of humor,
because that was just....omg, so rude lol.

Lived in Inch, best comment ever!! i laughed through the whole thing. i actually liked some parts of the episode but others were pretty blah.

I agree... I am a die hard Lucas fan but they are writing him horribly! It's almost like he's on a different show! He has no real role with the other characters... even Peyton. I really hope they allow him to be involved in some of the juicier storylines!

Also, I don't think that Brooke is like "Pity me." I think it's more like she's like "I'm pissed." Not to mention it just twists the knife more that she's alone. And I know that some will say "so what" to my next comment, but she was in love with Lucas once (and some think she's suppressing that love for Peyton and Lucas, including me, especially since the end of season 3, all of season 4, and some of season 5 from the Brucas scenes).

PLEASE DON'T BE OWEN! PLEASE BE JAKE! I miss him! I miss Jayton!

I completely agree with EVERYTHING! Thank you! Lucas and Brooke went from best friends to total strangers! Not a single scene in 5 episodes! WTH?!

And none of the main cast have scenes together anymore really. Ugh.

I really DO feel that Peyton is way more into "Leyton" than Lucas it. I think Lucas just doesn't want to be alone. He goes for whatever he knows will guarantee him someone. He knew Lindsey would say no, so he didn't call her. He felt like things with Brooke weren't back to the "Brucas forever" like they used to be. But he knew that Peyton cried over him for 5 years and still wanted him, so he said "Peyton would definitely agree to be with me." Seems like he just doesn't like being alone.

lmao you guys are so right about lucas! i don't get either what every girl in tree hill sees in him haha I don't like how they all seem disconnected but i get that when you get older and your responsabilities increase you don't hang that much with your highschool friends anymore... still, Friends did it, why not oth¿? :P thanks for the podcast girls!
PS: you are totally right about them seeming older, i'm 22 and my life doesn't share a thing whit theirs.

i love your guys' pod casts you crack me up. i definitely agree we need more screen time with the main 5 charactores INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER!!! and a little less jaimie time. yes the kid is absolutly adorable and talented and funny but it seriously is turning from OTH to the jaimie hour. i'm just sayin i really miss storey lines with like naley's relationship and seeing them be cute together and being all about each other and everyone else on the show actually bein friends with each other again. that's my biggest problem.

also, i love reading the comments and what other fans have to say on here, but really i don't want to hear the spoilers and i know a lot of other people here don't either, so could we maybe try to keep those to a minimum if you're gonna be leaving a comment the rest of us read please? thanks, sorry but i just really don't wanna know things ahead of time.

great job on the pod casts, keep up the good work!

Angel said it all EXACTLY how i would have. everything!

and i think i agreed with you guys more this week than normal! :]

Brooke does need to tell someone now, and it looks as though she will tell Peyton next week. it's about freaking time!! and yeah, i agree with you guys when you said that if she doesn't want to tell anybody or want anybody to notice, she shouldn't be moping around. Her best friend has alot going on right now, and is actually telling her about it, and it doesn't seem to phase her in the least. i'm just glad she's telling her!!

ok, and i think the fact that it seems like lucas is less interested in peyton is so true!! but i think it's honestly chad's acting. all he does is this broody thing to convey pretty much every emotion he has.... and it's just old and im sick of his character. I've always loved lucas and peyton together and it's not the same this season, and i think it's because of lucas.
and yes, he is supposed to be the main character, and it is soo weird not to see him in the middle of everything, and it makes me miss the older seasons where they were all at school together.

and on to carrie... she's got to be dead, and thank goodness. but seriously, who wakes up from being shot and laughs? i thought dan was imagining it or something for a second. and i know it was great how dan shot her and all, but did you see how close the bullet came to haley and deb? it went right between them!! i mean, im sure dan has good aim, but he was just on drugs, so that was kinda weird. haha.

and about peyton and her so-called daddy, i think the story just isn't building up enough or something. they brought him in, and of course we assume he's her dad, and so does she... and then what? i dunno, it's only ok right now.

lucas and lindsey finally get a little closure, which was good, and now they can do the book tour stuff and bla bla bla.

and you're right about it being alot about jamie. i LOVE jamie, but sometimes i'd like to see naley without him, being a couple, or them all interacting with the rest of the characters. i mean, sure their lives don't intertwine all the time, but this is a show, and we want to see them all together! :]

i think i've said it all! great podcast you guys, i love listening to it! hey i've got an idea, maybe you should start season 2 since there's no episode next week! hehe, i know you guys are busy and whatnot, but it would be fun to hear what you think about the other seasons.

The whole Lucas thing, reminds me of the last couple of season of Dawson's Creek where Joey became the main character and Dawson was barely even seen, let alone had story lines.

My take on last night's episode:

Peyton high on Sunkist: We're getting married, yeah!
Hesitant Dumbass: Okaaayyy...
Peyton on H-drugs: Why are you not happy? Nobody should be unhappy when I am happy. I have the sun shining out of my ass.
Dumbass: I know. I'm a dumbass, but I haven't told Lindsey about us yet.
Seyton: Well, get over to New York and go tell her.

Self-absorbed Peyton: How's my life? Everything's great. I might be getting a new father, which is relative #6 if you really keep count. I am getting married to your former boyfriend. I want you to make my wedding dress. Oh, and the sun is shining out of my ass.
Brooke: Okaaayyy...
Seyton: "Who peed in your Cheerios?" [This is an actual line from the episode, I am not making this up.]

NBA Guy: Why don't you fly off to Indiana? We want to meet you.
Excited Nathan: NBA? I'm there.
[A plane and car ride later]
NBA Guy: So what do you think about the coaching job?
Angry Nathan: Coaching? All I want to do is play.
NBA Guy: Come on, man. You broke your back. Think about it. We don't always get what we want. Talk to your friend Peyton.

Peyton: Hey, Dad! Can you see the sun shining out of my ass?
Potential Father: Uh, yeah... But I never actually told you I was your father.
Peyton: Hey, Dad! Come over for dinner. I want you to meet my fiance who went to see his ex-fiancee in New York.
Potential Father: Okaaayyy...
[An empty table and a dinner chucked in the bin later]
Sad Peyton: Dad stood me up, and so did Lucas. [Tears]

Lindsey: Hey, Luke. Here's your book: The Comet by Lucas Scott. It's great. We want you on a book tour.
Dumbass: Well, I can't make on that day for the book tour.
Lindsey: Why not?
Dumbass: Well, I am getting married... to Peyton.
Lindsey: I knew it!
Dumbass: Don't tell me I told you so.
Lindsey: I told you so! Do you know where I sign up to join the Pucas cheerleader union?
Dumbass: I don't know, Brooke might know.

Therapist: How do you feel, Brooke?
Brooke: Everybody else is moving on. My storyline is ending. I need a new one.
Therapist: Like Pucas's Bastard Child and a man?
Brooke: Hey? How do you know about PBC? Let me call Schwahny.
[A glass of chocolate milk later]
PBC: I'm sorry I was such a bitch. I guess I got the greatest genes ever.
Brooke: Tell me about it. I had my fair share of parents problems. Want to be best friends?

Psycho Nanny with a Brit accent: Haley, Dan is on its last leg. He wants to see Jamie. Follow the yellow brick road and get to the house next to the cornfield.
Haley: Okay.
[A yellow brick road and a cornfield later]
Haley: Run, Jamie, run.
[A Misery, and Children of the Corn movie hybrid later]
Kick-ass Deb: I followed the yellow brick road. And I smashed a bottle of Champagne that I saved for when Dan Scott would leave this earth [Come on Deb, that's never gonna happen.] on the head of that Psycho Nanny of yours.
Psycho Nanny: I'mmm baaack...
Dan: [Shoots her] "God I hate the woods." [This is an actual line from the episode, I am not making this up.]
[A Fatal Attraction ending later]
Psycho Nanny: I'mmm baaack... agaaain.
Badass Dan: Not so fast. [Shoots her again]

Why would they give Deb champagne if she's a recovering alcoholic/pill popper? But I agree, there is a lot of disconnect with Lucas.

First of all gotta say you guys are hilarious and I do love with your sarcasm on everything. Love Sarah's rants on Lucas those are just Jokes along with Mouth hatred (trust me all of us feel you on that) LOL!. Even if I agree to disagree with you guys most of the time. I can still enjoy your humors.

Anyways, on to the Episode. I agree with you guys on the Lucas not being apart of plot of others. It has been that way since S1. They show got away from that don’t know why, we as fans also wonder. It seems Lucas story's now became about his love life. Who should he be with? I think I agree with a review I read of how Lucas and Peyton never get interesting storylines. It's always about lost family with her, and Lucas is about whom he loves. At some point you gotta wonder why the lead girl and lead guy have been disappearing from the show. I get they can have LP together and happy but we don’t even see them interacting. But also give them INTERESTING storylines, because Lucas book tour really isn't doing much but keeping him away from all the characters along with his fiancée. Hopefully from spoilers I did read this other thing with Lucas coming into his life is interesting but even that is turning into a love triangle and Jealous from him. LOL!! So yes, I do agree the only time Lucas gets anything it's when it's a love triangle. Wow!

This Episode was average for me. I'm really getting tired of Brooke not telling anyone this "Pity" me is getting too much now. So hopefully from the 2 promo's that came out, with Peyton say "I never want you to feel like, you can't come to me with anything". It looks like Peyton finds out and Brooke is going to tell her, I hope she does and that it doesn't get under ragged again. But from a spoiler of what Peyton does, does lead me to believe Brooke told her everything.

Also I don't really believe Mick is Peyton father, IDK, they are making it to vague, it's like they are making us think he is, but they also don't want us to think he is. Why do I get the feel that he is her father but all of the stories that he is telling her are NOT TRUE, like he told her so he can get sympathy from her before she finds out the whole truth. Peyton Bio Dad was a dead beat dad according to Derek, so I don't understand why they are having Peyton this way when she knows who he was. Where is Larry first of all it's like he is forgotten? Which is weird? Also I feel Mick not telling her the whole truth on how Ellie and he had this great love story because they didn't from what we were told in S3. Hopefully more comes out next Episode about the real deal and later on when Derek comes back. (Sorry for the Spoiler)

All of the Dan/Carrie stuff I’m actually happy it's over with. I couldn't take anymore of it. Thank god.

I agree with the rest of my OTH fans. That Jamie does get a lot of screentime. Funny thing is he's on screen more than Lucas and Peyton. I don't even remember seeing a lot of LP since 601. Especially Peyton, She was barely in 603 and 604. And well Lucas I don't know what he was doing. And Brooke was off in her own world. I do see that the Characters are off from each other, like Haley/Peyton and Peyton/Nathan and Peyton/Skills or even BP, it's like in S5 were saw her with everyone, and now she has 2 second of time with Lucas, Then 1 minute with Brooke and then she's off with Mick. I hope the writers have the Characters come into each other which I think they are when Nathan starts Slamball. Because from spoiler it looks like the gang will be attending his games.

So the whole point is yes LESS JAMIE TIME is better. I can't believe am actually saying this but I would rather is Mouth Storyline than Jamie. Yes, it comes to that. lol!!

Brooke and her not telling someone is getting tiring I agree it needs to be moving along, because I can’t take anymore of feel sorry for Brooke. Because she’s not letting anyone help her out. I just hope it’s moved next Episode. I also get the feeling that Sam is going to be her next project. lol! I see Sam as Brooke storyline coming up because they are making it apparent to show them together. Also about the BL not having a scene is nothing new. Mark does this all the time with the characters friendship. If you watch past season or even this season, it would let you know more on the trend that happens on One Tree Hill. Friendships are created out of the blue and they don’t get shown out of the blue. Like in S2 with LP friendship and them acting like they don’t even exist, but there’s got build up in S3 so I gave the writers the benefit of doubt that S2 wasn’t all Mark idea and it wasn’t his vision. Than in S3 Haley and Peyton losing it and Brooke and Haley becoming BFF’s, and Nathan and Peyton building there’s in S2 and S3. Than in S4 Brooke and Peyton not friends and then Brooke and Nathan have this friendship. Than in S5 with BL have friendship to Haley and Peyton not being close first half of the season to becoming BFF’s again second half of the season. To S6 of Nathan and Brooke have scenes to Peyton and Haley not having any or even Lucas/Haley, Nathan/Peyton, even BP not spending that much together since they were 24/7 in S5.

Trust me this show and their friendship they create are for purpose of a storyline or to connect characters together so they can move along a story or make a point in a direction. So, if BL not having any friendship scenes this season is nothing surprising, since they needed to show BL together last season to make the cliffhanger more believable, which it wasn’t in the first place.

Nathan and his Basketball was really the less interesting in the whole Episode. It did suck that he thought he was going to play in D-league but the only wanted him for coach. But that story doesn’t end for Nathan since (sorry girls it’s not JAKE) Owen comes back and introduces him to Slamball, and his team. So Nathan does get to play BALL after all.

About Lucas and Lindsey, I have to give him some slack because he did try to tell her when he first came to NY and she told him she didn’t want any awkwardness and she wanted them to stay professional. So I did see him try, and also he only told her at that moment because she kept pushing about Chicago date and he had no choice to tell her in that heat of moment. I do agree and like Peyton with her disappoint that he should have told her along time ago or called her back after her message to him in 518. So I do agree he was wrong for that. But I did see him try though so I can’t hate on him for all of it. Also with him not being into the wedding or when Peyton told him the wedding date. I didn’t take it as he was not into it, I took it as that he had the hesitation of telling Peyton about the truth, the fact that he didn’t tell Lindsey about their Wedding or them being together. So I saw him confused about telling her, which Peyton figured out that he was holding something from her, which he finally ended up telling her what the deal was with the weirdness she got from him when she told him about having a wedding date. So, no I didn’t see it that that way that Lucas wasn’t into it, because in 603 he was all about the wedding and how he was “Sorry” to Peyton that they weren’t planning it.

The Episode was not all that great to me, but it did move along some of the past storylines left unsaid. So Lindsey and Lucas come to understanding, even though it’s still all awkward but it move along. Carrie and her psycho-ness so moved along, and Brooke is taking little steps, so it’s something.

Hopefully in 606 with Millie being back and Peyton tell her that “she doesn’t want Brooke to ever feel like she can’t tell her anything” will have her admit what happened. Also can’t wait to see what she and Owen talk about with him being back and all. Nathan getting to play Slamball and Lucas off on Book tour, but meeting up with Mouth, and Peyton’s confronting with Mick. So can’t wait for 606 and you guy’s next podcast.

LOL you guys are just hilarious. I really can't hate you guys. Seriously the snark in you guys make me come back every week even when I hate what you guys say. hehe any ways I didn't watch the episode so thanks for making me realize I did not need to watch it LMAO

great podcast as usual, I agree with you on most:I am happy that this crazy Carrie is dead, I never like that storyline.By what I saw, and I've heard if Nathan Slambal plays, that's not more dangerous than normal play basquet?.With the story of Sam and Brooke, I see it more as a location for big brother to Sam and not as a mother.According to the dynamics of the group, Apparently Tree Hill is bigger than we thought ...And where is Lucas to support Brooke?

And Sarah, Elvis Costello is the musician's favorite Hilarie Burton
