Smallville: New Faces and Big Threats
Smallville introduced us to a few new faces this week, and we've got to say -- we like them! When a bus blows up, Clark super-scampers out of the Daily Planet (where he's about to start his first day on the job) and starts pulling people out of the wreckage. One of the women he saves is none other than Tess Mercer, our substitute Lex. Tess obviously has her eye on Clark -- and it's not just because she thinks he's hiding things from her. Rowr!
Chloe is also there to help out. She takes care of a young blast victim named Bette, and attracts the attention of a seriously hunky paramedic to treat her. The sparks start flying immediately, both literally and figuratively. Bette tries to be all tough and self-sufficient, but Meteor-Enhanced Girl Scout Chloe convinces her to accept a little help. Bette tells Clark that a friend, Tommy, recent developed a power to heat things up with his mind. But when Clark, Chloe and Bette track Tommy down, it's Bette's eyes that go all sparky -- she's the one controlling the explosions! She blew up the bus because Tess was trying to recruit her, and she exploded Tommy because he's the one who sold her out to Tess. It takes Clark and Chloe a little while to figure this out (Clark when he realizes there was no mention of meteor rock on Tommy's autopsy, Chloe when Bette blows up her phone), but Clark gets to Chloe just in time.
There's more!
Bette gets shipped off to Belle Reve to get the help she needs, but Tess intercepts the transport. She tells Bette she understands her pain -- she remembers the injustice she suffered as a child. Now she wants to help Bette find herself, along with a group of other superpowered people. "We'll make a hero of you yet," Tess purrs. Somehow, "hero" isn't the word that jumps to mind! It seems to us that Tess is laying the foundation for the Injustice League (or Society, or Gang. or any of the other supervillainy injustice groups.) We can't wait!
Even more intriguing, we got to watch Chloe and Davis meet cute, meet cute again, and then YOWZA! Davis and Chloe make changing a lightbulb look like the sexiest activity on earth. We have to admit, we were a bit frustrated when Chloe brought up the fact that she was engaged. In fact, at least one of us screamed "Jimmy who? Forget Olsen! Go for Davis!" at the screen. Yes, we were that swept up in the chemistry between these two gorgeous people.
Not that a relationship with Davis would be free of drama. Yes, he's smart and funny and has a fabulous job, and he's beyond gorgeous. Unfortunately, he also ended the episode naked in a alley (we're ashamed to admit we paused on that for longer than necessary) while he skull buckled and heaved beneath the skin. He woke up screaming. THAT can't be good.
Plus, we had the spectacle of Clark's first day at the Daily Planet. We have to agree with Lois -- showing up in a flannel shirt and jeans on your first day will NOT go over well. Fortunately, Lois was able to liberate a newly dry-cleaned suit from a coworker. She pushed him into a convenient phone booth to change (Hee!). We know we've said this before, but wow, Clark cleans up well. Lois is all set to indoctrinate Clark in the ways of journalistic wisdom, but he has the disconcerting habit of zipping off when she least expects it. Still, she's impressed by his first effort (an obituary), and she says that the feeling she got ferreting out the truth is even more satisfying than the buzz she gets when she sees her name on the front page.
What did you think? Did you trust Bette? Are you glad Chloe will be running the Isis Foundation? Do you think Davis is utterly captivating, or only moderately gorgeous? Talk about it in the comments!

I loved the episode. I am a little sad that Clark and Lois will develop their feelings for one another this season. I am happy that Chloe has a fiance, a cute new villain guy, and clark who has feelings for her but will most likely never hook up with her. I feel she deserves to have Clark admit he has feelings for her and have her shoot him down after a night of passion. Clearly I have thought of this for a couple of seasons. Chloe deserves some clark lovin'.

This is a very boring episode. Little energy, tired acting, and old bag Lois ruins whatever that was left to ruin. This was once a great series, quality script, great close up shots, stories that tugged your heart. What happened?

Chlark are friends or more like family as he should have said btw and they also really will become one when Clark will marry Lois someday ;D Chloe didn't want to go back to the Planet, Clark needs to learn thinking without her which he succfully did already :) I loved all the Lois/Clark moments always so much fun to see! And that there were lot's of them, too! I'm happy to see Clark has new look and he acts like a hero- he totally rocked in this episode. And Davis seems really cool, it's even pity he becomes a bad guy! Can't wait till the next episode.

The Chlark was AMAZING in this episode. Their last scene was extremely telling, IMHO. I hope Chloe returns to the Daily Planet too.

Chloe must go back to journalism, she belongs to the DP. Like she said she has been one for years and I WON'T FORGET THAT.
We had some AWESOME Chlark in this episode.
