90210 Recap: "Wide Awake and Dreaming"

It's a month later, and the moment we've all been waiting for (no, not the Annie/Ethan kiss) is finally here: the school musical! Yes, "Spring Awakening" has seen three directors and two female leads, but the action taking place on stage isn't as dramatic as the action off stage.

Adrianna hasn't been showing up for rehearsals, so Annie has been taking over as her understudy. With Ty as the male lead, the new couple gets closer and closer. When the two decide to have a makeout session backstage at rehearsals, they get caught by an overprotective Harry, followed by Ryan and Kelly. This makes Harry think about his high school days -- which produced a long lost son. He goes home to talk to Debbie about how to handle things, and she is way more relaxed than Harry. Of course, she also makes sure to have a sex ed talk with Annie later in the night.

Annie says she isn't even thinking about sleeping with Ty, but when he surprises her with a hotel room for themselves at the play's after-party, Annie can't stop thinking about anything else. From what all of her new friends are telling her, it sounds like Ty has been around the block more than a few times. When Ethan finds out, he pleads with her to not sleep with Ty, but to save herself for someone with real feelings. All this coming from someone who cheated on his girlfriend with a random girl in front of school. Did anyone else think Ethan was talking about himself when he was asking Annie to save herself for someone? And did you also think Annie was talking about Ethan when she said she tried to do that but it didn't work out? Everyone needs to slow their roll; these kids are what, 16?

Speaking of libidos that need to be calmed down, Naomi's father has been spending a lot of time with his mistress at the beach house. The soon-to-be ex-Mrs. Clark hasn't been getting out of bed and after a makeup sex session sparked by a slapped face, Mrs. Clark has decided to file for divorce. She promises Naomi they'll be OK, though. We're happy to see that she feels strong enough to leave and agree that she deserves better. We're a bit surprised though, that she didn't feel this way when the affair was just a few times a year.

Adrianna finally shows up for the play's dress rehearsal, and Brenda notices something is wrong. Adrianna tells Brenda about the pressures she is facing and it seems as though once she's on stage she is able to shine through it. Still, Brenda, Ryan and Kelly are worried about her distant behavior. Their worries are confirmed when Adrianna can't be found before the big show and when she is located it looks like she's on drugs. Even though her mom has brought producers and casting directors to the performance Brenda needs to pull Adrianna from the show. Annie is there to step in - making her a prime target for Adrianna's anger.

When the curtain falls and everyone has taken their bows, Annie has decided that she is going to lose her virginity to Ty. She finds Dixon and asks him for the condom he's been carrying around (since he was 12 apparently) which he gives her in a very awkward brother/sister moment. This is when she bumps into Ethan and he picks up the condom she dropped. She then goes off to say bye to her folks before being ready to say bye to her virginity.

Not so fast, though... Adrianna beats Annie to the hotel and lies to Ty about seeing Annie and Ethan making out. When Annie makes it to the hotel room, Adrianna shows up wearing only a towel and lies about having slept with Ty. Annie leaves the room in a fit of tears and goes home to cry alone in her bedroom. Was she more upset about thinking about Ty cheating or about almost giving up her virginity to someone she doesn't know very well? We wonder how this will all be resolved now that both Ty and Annie think the other one cheated on them.

While all of the drama is taking place, Dixon and Silver take their relationship to the next level with a heavy makeout session. We're pretty pumped about these two -- we just hope their happiness can last at least a little while.

What did you think of this episode? Do you think Adrianna may have actually done Annie a favor (without meaning to, of course)? Let us know in the comments!

You said you weren't doing a 90210 podcast, why not?

Are you guys doing a 90210 podcast?? Because I am not seeing on iTunes!

Dixon and Silver are so cute! I love them together! I like that he think that she so bosy and I liked that she wants to take the relationship slow

I guess it's a good think 90210 already got it's full season pick up. Only 2.96 million last night, from it's premiere it's dropping like a rock.
