90210 Recap: Lucky Strike

Last night's episode of 90210 gave us more insight into the private lives of the Beverly Hills elite. The Wilson family is settling in nicely -- which also puts a damper on quality family time. Debbie and Harry decide to put together a mandatory family night which Annie and Dixon reluctantly make an effort to attend (with backup plans in tow). Dixon has been invited to prescreen the new Bond film with Navid and the guys from the lacrosse team while Annie's new crush, Ty, wants to take her to a concert. So, the plan is for the Wilsons to go bowling while the friends just so happen to show up around 8. But while the Wilsons get back to their close family roots, other families are being pulled apart at the seams.
Silver has been dealing with family issues of her own. Instead of going to her sister (um, hello, Kelly is not only her sister but also the guidance counselor... plus she's been through pretty much every traumatic experience one could possibly face) she keeps it a secret and seeks help at an abused women's shelter. When the shelter isn't able to accommodate, Silver is forced to sleep in her car. It becomes painfully obvious that she is missing a mother in her life. When she goes out to bowl with the Wilsons, Silver is the only one enjoying herself and remarks to Debbie that she wished her mom would take her bowling or spend family time with her. While Silver can't rely on her own mother, we have a feeling the Wilsons will play a special role in her life, especially since Dixon seems to have taken an interest in Silver.
Meanwhile, Naomi is getting over her breakup with Ethan and is looking forward to escaping with an annual trip to Vegas she and her dad take. When it's time to leave, though, her father tells her he is unable to go due to work pressures and gives her a new Lexus SUV to make up for it. The look on Naomi's face says it all: expensive gas-guzzling cars can't buy happiness and aren't a good substitute for love. Just when things couldn't get more miserable, she sees that her father really canceled their trip to make sexy time with a woman who isn't Naomi's mom! Considering Naomi's recent experience with Ethan's cheating, this must've been especially painful to see. Still, when she needs a shoulder to cry on, Ethan's is burly enough for her. But, while Ethan's shoulder is available for Naomi, it seems like his eyes are all for Annie. As a sidenote, did anyone else find it kind of weird that Naomi's friend announced her father's affair to everyone within earshot at the bowling alley? Like, maybe she should've kept that private.
Back in the teacher's lounge, Kelly and Ryan have started dating. The subject of her 4-year-old son comes up quite often, and the writers are obviously teasing us all with the identity of Kelly's baby daddy. No names were mentioned, just that he and Kelly had a relationship in high school. We can assume it isn't Brandon since their relationship went past high school and he told Brenda to relay the "you're beautiful" message. Could it be Dylan? Or Steve Sanders? That little boy sure does look like Steve, and they dated for a short time in high school. We can't wait for the identity to be revealed!
When everyone's night comes to an end, the Wilson kids have their chores to finish, Silver escapes to her car and Naomi climbs into bed with her mom while her dad is off with the other woman. As Dixon takes the trash out he notices Silver sleeping in her car. He wakes her and pleads with her to talk to his dad about what is going on. When she wants to run away, Dixon opens up about his experience in foster homes and how alcohol and substance abuse hurt him. Eventually, Silver agrees to sleep over. We love how Dixon took such great care of her; he's a great guy.
When the morning comes, Kelly is sitting at the table with Harry and getting the low-down on Silver. Kelly then takes Silver to confront their mother about her abusive behavior. Instead of admitting to her mistakes and vowing to make things right, their mom lashes out and tells Silver to leave. Luckily, Kelly was there to take Silver in and things are looking up for her.
Naomi's world is about to take another tumble. When she builds up the courage to tell her mom about witnessing her father's affair, Mrs. Clark shocks her (and us) saying that she knows all about the other woman. Apparently the Clarks have an arrangement worked out where this type of behavior is acceptable. Poor Naomi. We're sure this will screw her up pretty majorly.
What did you think of last night's episode? Were you shocked by anything? What do you think about Ty? To us, he seems a bit too good to be true (but good-looking enough that we don't care if he's bad).

I am so confused about the timeline for this show....I mean Erin would be sixteen if they follow an actual timeline...but if the principal actually went to high school with Kelly he is 33ish....yet he has a 16 year old daughter? So did he get Naomi's mom pregnant right before? I am so confused and I am clearly thinking about this too much. Did anyone else notice this?
