First thoughts: Hmm. We feel sorry for Supernatural. The show has a really tough timeslot, and now it won't even benefit from following the Smallville premiere (on Sept. 27, The CW will air an encore of the Reaper premiere in Supernatural's timeslow instead). The show deserves better. Still, we know the devoted fanbase will turn out.

Everything else is pretty much as we expected it, with surefire reality hits kicking off premiere week. But the real question is -- what do you think?

I cannot believe they are keeping that reaper show...supernatural is waaay better and leaving it at the GREY's time slot is wrong, the two shows have a huge overlap audience. Are they trying to kill the show? Why can't it be wednesday at 8 pm. They don't promote it enough. I don't understand how america's top drivel is being renewed and shows like privileged gets cancelled and SPN is not given a good time slot...and now they are making room for that sad imitation of twilight ....vampire diaries....CW's programming manager is losing it. It used to be my fave channel but not anymore

the game is one of the best shows on tv and the only black show on tv and its not rite the the cw is home to white shows no offense but i dont think its fair that the game was cancled at the shows higest point

What the heck is wrong with these networks? Supernatural is a great show. I guess Reaper is that crappy now that they have to throw it a bone. I forsee a cancellation.

when is Supernatural and Smallville coming back on

When is the premiere of Reaper scheduled for, that is if the show is coming back for another season?

What happened to the premiere of All of Us?

when does one tree hill start and gilmore girls

When is the premiere for All of Us?

Yeah..seriously, Supernatural is probably one of the best written shows I've seen in quite some time, best shows all around, and it really deserves more credit than "corporate" is giving it.

Wow. I had such a hard time finding the premier date for Supernatural... now I see why. This show is one of the best shows on tv and stuck in a horrible time slot. I am one of the 'older' fans, being in my 30s, I am sure but that would be due to the fact the show is smart. Outdoes most of the other shows that attempt this type of genre. I won't even be home for the premiere, since I will be traveling out of town. My DVR will be set and this will continue to be the only show I go out of my way to see on CW. I enjoy Smallville in repeats on other stations, but the lack of advertising for Supernatural is ridiculous. Put one of your silly reality tv shows up against Grey's (I watch Grey's, SN and CSI, but I have DVR so I can do that... others may not have that luxury). I use to hate ABC's scheduling choices... now CW, you can have that honor.

I ask myself the same question during sweeps, season premieres and finales every year: WHY DOES DAWN OSTROFF STILL HAVE A JOB?

Does anyone remember when she said in a press conference that she "just doesn't get" Supernatural? And here's what happens when one woman's penchant for mindless soap opera drivel starts to affect a whole network.

I am so freakin' tired of seeing promos for Reaper and Gossip Girl (what a dumb show). Where are the promos for Supernatural? One would never know it was coming back with the lack of promotion for it!

who ever said that they were boycotting reaper..me to! it makes me so mad that they would do this to supernatural when its fans have waited so long already and that just lost reaper its main fanbase if because of moving supernatural. and i waited aaaallllll summer and some and i was SO SUPER excited..i cant believe they would do this *evil look*

u ppl annoy me. so we have to wait another week for SPN. whoa. like we havent waited practically ALL summer for it. and yea, the cw is crappy and i would love spn on th ewb instead, but... life isnt fair. all this whining isnt goinging to change a thing, because ur pracatically ALL repeating what eachother have already said. WHY TYPE IT?? i, too, think that this reaper show is going to be a bust, and i hope it gets cancelled before theyre even done showing it. but whining about how its not fair and how the cw sucks and how they cant rely on their fanbase anymore... well. i think we get the freaking point here ppl.and, personally, i have to agree with some ppl about the ga and csi premieres. at least spn wont have to compete. and u have to give the cw some slack. does ANYONE remember when the wb first started up? it was crazy. they had all the show schedules wrong, timeslots were mixed up, it was much.. MUCH worse than this. and thats really all i have to say.

I was originally planning to watch Reaper but now that the CW has pulled this stunt of replacing what should have been the premier of Supernatural with it I am boycotting Reaper.

Man That suck that SPN starts a whole 'nother week after all the premires. the timeslot really does suck. But I guess we all have to deal. At least they still have the show right?! This sucks. SPN deserves better and they need to show more SPN promo. Im getting tired of seeing everything but them.

I hope Supernatural gets a
forth season next year. If
it does I hope it moves
timeslots. If the CW cancels the show next year,
I'll be pissed off.

i guess it is a tactic of most every tv station, to change the line-ups and start times/dates of our favorite shows. that is life. we will get used to it; this show is too good to forget about.

Well, that sucks. I was hoping that we'd get the SPN premiere the same night as SV, but I have to wait a week. BOOOO. Hopefully the CW will promote SPN and SV like they should. And hopefully SV won't be as horrible as S6. *shudder*

I know Supernatural has a horrible timeslot, but I'm actually looking forward to watching Reaper. It's more of a comedy as Supernatural is more of a drama. I absolutely love Supernatural. There's too many big hit shows premiering the 27th, so I think it's an excellent idea to not premeire season three that day. Trust me, they know Supernatural has tons of fans. It'll all work out for the best. =))

Yes, promotion is so very much needed. The renewal was too close this year. I am so glad that both Jared and Jensen will be joining Erik Kripke at Comicon this week. That shows their true commitment to promoting the show. We are such a rabid fanbase and if Jericho can be saved why can't our boys? It is one of the best shows on all around: writing, directing, stories, characters, the whole package. I am disappointed that they are resorting to "eye candy" but if it brings in viewers, the greater good can be accomplished. If stunt casting like Tricia Hefner (Battlestar Galactica) introduces SN to that fan base, the greater good can be accomplished. Where are the X-Files and Buffy fans?? I hope Reaper does not become the CW's new darling and SN is relegated to bastard child (Hello, NBC and Scrubs, another brilliant show). But if it scores big, I fear it will be pushed into the post-Smallville slot and we'll be doomed. I hope for the best. But in TV, nothing ever seems quite fair (Emmy noms, case in point -- the CW only garnered one -- for sound editing).

SN rules. It's an amazing show that deserves so much better and I hope the Powers That Be seriously wake up to that fact. Here's to Season Four (I hope I hope I hope).

all i have to say is i'm disappointed with their decisions with supernatural.

"Ok i can see how it's a good idea to not air Supernatural on the same night as Grey's and CSI but come on! October 4th is practically mid-season."

That's not midseason. Wait 'till ABC shows up with their premiere schedule - they'll probably have almost half of their shows premiering in October. Midseason is usually considered late-November and on. Srubs doesn't even come on until October 25th ...

Hahaha. I just realized that I won't be watching The CW except for Thursday's at 9PM now. How fun!

I may just start watching SPN on CityTV anyway simply because you people over on The CW network continue to piss me off. Not only do you NOT promote SPN as often as you do any of your other 'precious' shows like Beauty and the Geek and the Pussycat Dolls, BUT now you have us premiere last? What the--?!

Add in the fact that Reaper is practically a slap in the face to every SPN fan. It's like you're telling us that you don't care what we say about Supernatural because you think it sucks anyway. Picking up a show that's basically making fun of it is just the easy way to send that message because, hey, at least you guys didn't come out and say it! Right? Ha.

I really hate this network.

SN does not get the promotion it deserves. As far as I'm concerned Smallville is as good as dead and will be canceled sooner than later. To put the majority of the advertising behind a dieing show and not a trying-to-thrive show is just not good common sense. SN doesn’t get proper advertisement so the fans take it on themselves to advertise it. Don’t believe me, check out some fan-hosted websites and you’ll see that the majority of the people do what they can to advertise SN. The fans must advertise a CW show because the network does it poorly and the fans are rewarded how? The show they advertise premiers in October. The fans will not leave the show but a lot of them would love to leave the network. The CW is new and needs to build itself with different age groups and genres, but it doesn’t mean that it should disregard SN. The CW feels that the fans are so loyal that they will not leave the show so why not premier another show and push the SN premier back to October? Yes, I can see where this thinking is coming from, but the fans are so loyal that they will wait so why not reward the fans for being loyal and advertising the show by giving them the show they want to see? I for one can’t wait for Reaper. From what I saw, Reaper is a light Supernatural/Comedy that is completely different from Supernatural. SN is a dark show. Reaper is a light show. They are different. There’s no reason they can’t both be premiered in the same week or night. Smallville is a light Supernatural/Sci-Fi/Drama that SN follows. I’m not seeing an issue of SN premiering after Smallville. If there are concerns with Reaper being a ripoff of Supernatural or conflicting with it, then why not put those fears to rest by airing both shows in the same week? The show I have seen advertised the most is Gossip Girl. To me it seems as if the network is putting all it’s faith in this one new show. I get that it’s a popular book and all but other shows need to be advertised, too. SN needs to be advertised more period, but what about Smallville? SN and Smallville are CW shows that are premiering as well so where’s the advertisement? Last year when I heard about the CW network I was extremely excited, but now I really don’t like the network. It’s a new network with a blank slate that’s ruining it’s opportunity to make better decisions than UPN and the WB. If you have a new hit show, SN, then for the love of god advertise it!

this is so annoying but i think SPN fans should calm down a little bit. when i first heard/read about the two new girls, i freaked out & still am. but thankfully, there is still a Season 3 of SPN. can't we just be happy about that? and if CW is really trying to remove SPN, we really need to keep watching SPN even if the two new love interests is going to happen. many people have said that they'll stop watching if these girls becomes regular on the show, but, c'mon, i'd rather have the girls on the show once a month, than have SPN gone forever.

What the hell????
Supernatural deserves better!

Tks for letting us know, by the way. :)

Why do they keep doing this 2 Supernatural. The best show they have on air? If it get's cancelled, I'm done with The CW. They only have 3 shows, Smallville, and it's been going downhill, OTH which is mid-season and Supernatural. (THE BEST SHOW ON TV)

If holding back SN for one week helps it avoid being lost in the shuffle when CSI and GA premieres, so much the better. Hopefully, premiering by itself will be a blessing. Let Reaper take the hit. Everything I've seen about it makes it look like a rip off of Ghostbusters.
I just wish that the CW would realize what a goldmine they have in SN and actually give it some respect.

Not happy with the premiere date. Not one bit and to have a repeat of Reaper??? Please. I hope the show bombs. To be honest i only watch CW for CSI, Supernatural and Grey's. Thats it. I love Supernatural and yes..devoted fan. Yes the CW is growing...or trying to and yes they are going to make mistakes. They are making a huge mistake by not promoting SN more. Seriously they need to get off the pot and promote the show MORE. They need to air the promo contest winner more. That is an awesome promo.
To the folks at CW....Please do NOT make the mistake of walking away from SN.

Look at it this way, if our show starts later then we're not put up against the power houses Greys and CSI, so maybe in some odd kind of way this is the CW's way of helping our show??? *Is trying to stay positive*

Angryfan: ratings of Supernatural were still good on the WB after the move to Thursdays because new Greys episodes were being aired on Sundays after Desperate Housewives and repeats were being aired on Thursdays against Supernatural.

Calm down children.

This isn't the end of the world

The CW (as much as I dislike many choices the execs have made) is a network trying to build itself. Maybe if many SPN fans didn't previously complain and make snarky comments about Reaper being a ripoff, the CW may have bumped SV and aired the repeat of the Reaper premier with Supernatural.

Anyone stop to think about that before ranting?

Sometimes it's embarrassing to be a fan of SPN due to the immaturity of some fans.

The CW sucks now.They were
about to cancel the show
last year. I'm really pissed off that it's on a
tough timeslot with CSI and
GA. If Supernatural does
get renewed next year, I
hope it moves timeslots. I
liked to watch CSI on Thrs.
nights.All I have to say
but the CW sucks now. If they cancel Supernatural next year, I'll be pissed off.

The 'devoted fan-base' are already pretty kicked in the teeth about the 2 new regular 'stars' of Spn. Two girls trying to be Buffy and Faith and forget about the boys two-hander by the sound of it.
The CW wants Reaper to be a hit instead of supernatural because it has a boy/girl couple in it and that means it will gel with their teeny-image of sex-on-the-brain.
So sick of the lack of respect for my great show - first two predictable eye-candies and now this.
Very Disappointed.

CW HOW IN THE WORLD COULD THEY BE SOOO STUPID. TRULY I AM GETTING PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!! I AM ALREADY ANGRY THAT THEY ARE ADDING TWO NEW REGULARS TO SPN BUT NOW THEY ARE PUSHING IT BACK!!!!!! IF IT WEREN'T FOR SPN I WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THE CW!!!!! I SERIOUSLY THINK THE CW IS TRYING TO GET SPN CANCELLED WHEN SPN SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY GREAT SHOW ON THE CW. ALSO AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS NOTICED EVER SINCE SPN MOVED TO THE CW THE RATINGS HAVE GONE DOWN????? I KNOW BECAUSE MOSTLY FOR THE 1ST SEASON IT WAS ON TUESDAYS BUT EVEN WHEN IT MOVED TO THURSDAYS THE RATINGS WERE STILL GOOD ON THE WB. I HATE THE CW THEY SERIOUS NEED TO GET A CAT SCAN TO SEE IF THEIR MINDS ARE OKAY!!!! ARRRG WHY R THEY DOING THIS TO THE BEST SHOW IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

Urg. GG and Reaper promo's are starting to get annoying. What ever happened to that kickass Promax commercial, and why aren't they airing it. With the premiere dates out, they should start advertising the shows using previous season clips for all of them.

Premiere wee still stinks though.

Devoted fanbase or not, Supernatural really needs promotion to survive. But odds are at least one of the new shows is going to bomb, so it's possible the CW will have no choice but to pick up the slack on us if they want some kind of stable future.

That, or they could just keep pumping ad dollars into trash TV like Pussycat Dolls that barely matches SPN's ratings with promotion all over the country.

LOL!!
The CW destroyed Supernatural with the two new barbies and all for nothing!
See kripke? All for nothing! LOL!!
The CW is still not gonna promote the show, still not giving a damn about it!
So funny! You're all such a joke now!

Sounds to me like the "devoted fanbase" is starting to get pissed.

question: Is anyone else sick and tired of seeing a Gossip Girls or Reaper promo during every commercial break on the CW? or during the local programming?

Hopefully they promote the returning scripted programs in an equal manner.

(who am I kidding? this is the cw.)

Ok i can see how it's a good idea to not air Supernatural on the same night as Grey's and CSI but come on! October 4th is practically mid-season.
And i agree with sightofland, they need to stop relying on the 'devoted fanbase' excuse. yea we are a very devoted fanbase. A fanbase that wishes are damn show appeared on a better station. The CW.. Sucks. I only watch for Supernatural and Smallville other wise i'd leave the damn channel alone.

Considering the way the CW treated SPN's finale and the addition of new "regulars", it could be a smart move to wait a week to air S3's premier. It would have been wiser to air it the week before the 27th. But I'm not a network exec, so what do I know?

Honestly, I don't think SV fans would be all that interested in reaper anyway. Reaper appears to be more of a comedy than drama. SV has gotten a little "soapy" as well. Let the reaper repeat go up against the 1 hr premier of the office along with CSI and Greys. fine with me.

Besides: When SV's ratings decreased, SPN's stayed consistant until the finale. IMO SPN doesn't need SV.

I don't know what it is with some people who have developed a competition-like attitude between SPN and Reaper. You shouldn't complain for the CW bumping SPN for one night when the CW has given us a weekly double dose of SPN throughout the summer. they could have easily gave that sunday spot to Smallville repeats.

I'm not so upset with the fact the CW is pushing Supernatural's premiere date off a week as I am about WHY they're doing it. Sorry in advance to anyone actually excited about the upcoming show Reaper, but to me, it simply looks like a joke, as in ridiculous. Which is too bad, as the premise itself sounded interesting. To put the premiere of SN off a week just to air an encore of a premiere for a show no one will remember a month later is insulting to the fans of SN, not to mention its cast and crew. The CW doesn't seem to know what to do with a program that's intelligent, thought-provoking, suspenseful, frightening, emotional, hilarious, and simply amazing. They don't know when they've got a great thing, so it doesn't get publicized the way it should. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I am completely and utterly grateful beyond words for both the huge flow of merchandising that has started in the last year, and the new items coming out for the show, as I am for its renewal for a third season. I'm truly thrilled and ecstatic for both. I just believe the CW could put a little more of its strength as a network behind promoting and publicizing what is, to all the fans that know and love it, clearly the best show on their network. To any execs or CW employees that read this blog, pay attention to the fan response! Supernatural is amazing and deserves all the attention you can possibly give it and more, you won't be sorry, with a little TLC, the show will flourish. (We're not afraid of forensic investigators and bed-hopping doctors...we'll just pull out the rock salt and the Impala.;) Bring 'em on!!)

The CW would have been a lot smarter to air most of their premieres the week of Monday September 17, since most of the other networks aren't premiering the majority of their lineups until the official start of the 2007-08 season - which is September 24.

This strategy worked really well for the WB in the fall of 2002, 2003 and 2004 -- and is likely what helped Everwood launch in September 2002 out of 7th Heaven's 9.3 million premiere for year 7.

Delaying premieres doesn't work as well...as we saw last year when most CW shows premiered during weeks 2 or 3 of the official TV season.

I am all for moving it out of the line of fire. The CW did right by this. They knew the big three were premiering that week, you don't want to kill the show.

Reaper won't stand a chance on Thursday Night, I for one hope it dies a horoable death. ;)

I am not sure though if the CW is trying to kill SPN or help it. LOL is confused by their actions.

What do you mean, you've put the SPN season premiere a week later so you can promote Reaper??? This show does NOT need another kick in the pants. The distinct lack of summer promoting is bad enough, as is the timeslot.

Please stop using the lame "devoted fans" aspect. It's old and tiresome, even though this show has proven it can hold its own against monsters like CSI and GA in the same timeslot. Can Reaper do the same?

I can understand moving SN ahead a week b/c of CSI and GA. But to give the slot to Reaper? Using the devoted fanbase as an excuse, is lame, and Dawn might as well as made SN a midseason premiere, and encore her SN ripoff twice a week.

Reaper is going to do bad following SV b/c of GA and CSI starting. And to encore the show(Reaper) two nights after it starts, is just making me mad. Encores are better fitted for Sundays on the CW.

I for on will not be watching the CW until October 4. Until then SV, and all the other CW shows I would like to watch, will be watched on a Canadian network in my house.

SPN continues to have road blocks. Doesn't get the benefit of the SV premiere but a rerun of Reaper does. Wonderful. Then again, it may be a blessing not having to go against any of the CSI/Grey's premieres.

You mean so that when we all tune in on the 4th, we won't be tagged as "leftover network leeches from Smallville". I only have two words for that: thank baby jesus. OK, so that's three words. This show can, and does, stand on its own. Whatever they have to do to prove that to themselves is fine by me.

I have wondered though, technically, if you Tivo something and watch it later, does it still count in the ratings? Cuz if it does count, who really cares when it airs? We are still watching it!

Sightofland, we're not affiliated with The CW network and we don't make programming decisions at The CW Source. If I had my way, I'd give Supernatural a better timeslot/premiere date. Alas, I have no such influence. I'm trying to think positively here when I say the fanbase will turn out because I believe they will, in spite of a less-than-desirable timeslot.

Just wanted to make that clear. Thanks for reading!

If CSI and Grey's Anatomy both premiere on the 27th, it might be a good thing to hold off on Supernatural for a week so it doesn't have to compete. Especially since (I think?) CSI ended on a cliffhanger.
Although I doubt that was the thought process of the CW folk, they're probably just carrying on the tradition of trying to sabotage Supernatural... sorry, bitterness.

Oh that's really lovely, thanks for letting us SPN fans know that the network is going to keep screwing the show over with the timeslot. Let me tell you, it REALLY makes us want to keep watching the CW.

I suggest that the network doesn't keep relying on the 'devoted fanbase' excuse.
