Four CW Shows on the Brink: Which Would You Save?
It's time for Kristin at E!Online's annual Save One Show (SOS) campaign, and four (count 'em) CW shows are in the running. Four!
For the record, they're Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, (again? We just went through this last year), Supernatural, which are all categorized as "Looking Uncertain," and Veronica Mars, which, unnervingly, is tagged as "Looking Doomed." Noooo!
We're a little freaked out hearing that some of our faves might not make it back next year, so we wanted to know: which of these four do you want saved? All four have passionate, rabid fanbases, but which one is the most worthy of another season?
Note: There's been no official announcement from The CW about the future of ANY of their programs, so don't get too panicked yet. Here's what we think...
Gilmore Girls has been around for awhile, and it's a Tuesday night fixture. Fans have expressed some frustration with storylines this season, but GG still gets good ratings and has a loyal fanbase. Are there enough stories to go for Season Eight? We think yes. There's not enough time this season to effectively wrap up the Lorelai/Chris/Luke triangle and leave the fans with a satisfying ending. And there's still so much we want to see more of -- Rory's future. Lane's twins. Lorelai, whoever she ends up with, being witty. Townspeople. Ending this season would feel rushed and unfinished, we think. In a nutshell: we want more Gilmore!
OTH, which won Kristin's SOS poll last year, has a lot of stories left to tell, too, especially because if it does get renewed for Season Five, creator Mark Schwahn has already said he'll skip the college years (wise move -- remember how dull Dawson's Creek got once the cast graduated high school?) and fast-forward four years into the characters' early twenties. Awesome. We'd get right to the meaty stuff. Would Naley still be together? Would Peyton and Jake ever reconnect? What would become of the rest of the Tree Hill gang? It's safe to say that OTH has a FEW good years left in it -- we're sad to see it on the brink again.
Supernatural on the brink!? We thought this show would be safe -- in fact, we can't believe it's not a sure thing for next year. It's had a stellar second season, and it's held its own in a really, really tough timeslot on Thursday nights. It mixes suspense and snark in a way that's unrivaled on network TV. There's brotherly angst (and the brothers aren't too bad-looking, either). Poster Sarah summed it up well: "It's clever, humourous, a real edge-of-your-seat thriller, and still manages to get right down to the gritty roots of human relationships." But it still might be in trouble.
And Veronica Mars? Well, news leaks of a probable cancellation didn't shock us. We VM fans are a tough bunch. After all, we've been through this before (see spring, 2006). And we've already started speculating what might happen in Veronica's future, in case she, too, tries a little time travel a la OTH. But hearing the words "Likely Doomed" sent a chill down our spines... do you think there's still hope for Veronica? And if the show does come back, what could The CW do to get more people to watch?

i agree with everyone the show gg needs more luke an lorelai needs to marry if rory does not want to come back say she moved to china to follow her dreams but luke an lorelai needs more to make all the fans happy fans is the ones to make shows a hit so we need more ......

I love gilmore girls!i actually CRIED when the seventh season ended!I waz EXPECTING another season by the way it ended,is lorelai and luke get married?they should!i mean look @ there past!EVERY TIME luke tried to tell her he loves her,someone(meaning christopher or max!)would always walk in,or get in the way!thats soooooooooooo unfair!they have ALWAYS(!)LOVED EACHOTHER!lorelai would never admit it,and luke never got the chance to tell her how HE REALLY FEELS,and when he got the chance(when they started to go out)He NEVER told her that he had ALWAYS LOVED HER(!),and they would never,and i mean EVER expres how they felt bout eachother like lorelai and chris did.even though she loves luke!dean and rory had an episode about the first time they said,I LOVE YOU.......,and luke and lorelai didnt!
So,in conclusion,RORY SHOULD MARRY JESS and LORELAI SHOULD MARRY LUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!they belong 2gether!also luke and lorelai need to tell eachother that they have always loved eachother,and always will!and u n every1 else knows that rory has feelings 4 jess!I am 14,and i CAN NOT live without GILMORE GIRLS!I have signed the g girls petition,and told ALL of my friends bout it,so PLEASE dont take them away @least give us 1 more season!

I am so sad, I work at a hospital & I make sure that I am off on Tuesday nights so I can watch Gilmore Girls, I watch the reruns everyday.Everyone knows not to call or bother me during my time. knowing that my favorite show is gone,I could cry. WHO made this call because I hate to tell you but it was a REALLY BAD CALL!! Why not just take Christmas away also. I am very upset with you. I think I will BOYCOT the CW

The season finale of Gilmore Girls came out of no where. it was a shock to their loving and longtime fans. i have watched Gilmore Girls since season one me and my mom. i think we deserve a better ending another season to tie up all the the loose ends and there are a lot of them. Please bring back Gilmore Girls it is soooooo neccessary!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally think cw shouldn't take out my 3 favorite shows Veronica Mars,Smallville,and Supernatural because they are really good shows with great characters. I am a big fan and have all the seasons of these shows I can't live without these shows and I don't know what a Tuesday would be like with out Veronica Mars or a Thursday with out Supernatural and Smallville.These shows are really good and have potential. They are also unique shows who get people at the edge of their seats with so much suspense. I would love to know what will happen in their next seasons so don't cancel these shows because cw will regret it.

i honestly cant live without gilmore girls there is to much left undone and gg was something i grew up with. i related to rory and now its like where do i go from here. i thonk it should have another season and see wa happens to loreli and luke and rory and her new job. please bring back gg. beside watching reruns isnt all as fun and a new episode. Ok - The CW is really starting to make me hate them. I loved the WB back when all the good shows were on. The original lineup, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, Everwood, 7th Heaven.... these were the shows that I always watched and recorded if I wasn't going to be home. Now I can only really watch one show, Smallville - my husband loves Supernatural as well - it's too scary for me! Anyway -my point is that if it weren't for Smallville, I wouldn't be paying Dish Network extra to subscribe to the Superstation package that gives me the CW from New York, Colorado, and Los Angeles. Without all the other lineup, I'm basically paying $6 a month to watch Smallville. The CW needs to drop their newest lineups and bring back what the viewers really want - the original lineup or at least get better shows that will make up for us losing Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars not Top Model, or Everybody Hates Chris, or anyother pointless reality shows, etc.. These new series that are replacing all the beloved series; Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, 7th Heaven, Everwood, etc., have nothing to them that will keep viewers interested. Bring back the good shows!!! And they better not end Smallville - I'm already upset that they are taking off Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls. If Smallville goes - I will have nothing else to watch on the WB - oops I mean CW. Bring back the WB!!!

You guys are ridiculous. Gilmore Girls is the only show that has meaning on television. There are so many loyal watchers who look forward to this great show every Tues. night. I have watched continuously and sat down and watched this mother and daughter, who are perfect. They are hilarious together! There are so many questions that need to be answered, so bring back GG! My love of CW will end immediately if you don't make another season. Trust me.

Im quite sure that my one little comment will go unnoticed but I still want to post my comment.
One tree hill is my favorite show on television, one of the only reasons I still watch tv. It's not just another teen drama series most of the episodes have key morals behind them. Thats why I love it.
And Veronica Mars I didn't watch at first but after seeing a couple episodes I really liked it. And just let you guys know putting Invisible Children on there was awesome! It shows that VM can have depth too.

ok first of all.. why doesn't the CW realize that nobody cares about the new shows or the MAJORLY POINTLESS REALITY SHOWS THAT ARE JUST A WASTE OF SPACE AND GIVING FANS OF THE GOOD SHOWS A REASON TO GET PISSED OFF!!!! honestly 3 of my favorite shows are on that list of the shows to be booted off and thats just not right! the CW people should get their butts on the web and read all this feedback that they are getting from fans and do something to make them happy! that is the only way that they are going to survive as a network anyway.. its all about the fans!! i know im coming on a little strong here but i mean look how many people are taking time out of their day to post what they think and how many people who have said that these shows have somehow helped them or changed their lives! that really means something! Veronica Mars(BASICALLY THE ONLY SHOW ABOUT A TEENAGE GIRL TRYING TO MAKE IT plus ITS BEYOND AMAZING ive learned so much!!!!! KRISTEN BELL IS HILARIOUS and SUCH A TALENTED ACTRESS!!), One Tree Hill(AAF!!!!!-NALEY, BRUCAS,JAYTON,KAITH,ETC.), and Supernatural(HOTTEST BROTHERS ON TV! ABS.HILARIOUS AS WELL!!) are amazing shows and i for one have learned so much from them as well as a few things from Gilmore Girls when i used to watch it. i mean ive even gone into school sometimes and already have knowledge of the subjects we are talking about because i learned about them from these shows. the writing is brilliant, the actors/actresses are ABS. AMAZING&GORGEOUS, and the shows because of that come out to be the best that anything on tv could be!! so pleaseeee pleaseeee pleaseeee dont cancel any of these shows because honestly if the CW cancels even one of these shows they are going to lose tons and tons and tons of viewers anyway!!!!!!! so i think they should do themselves a favor and stick with what they have rather then ruining their chances of surviving as a network themselves!!!!!!! and its a good thing that Smallville is safe because if it wasn't WOW things would be getting EXTREMELY BAD for the CW!!!!!!

Supernatural needs to stay. its brought a new variety to the CW. all the shows on all networks are just drama, a good suspense show is needed. this show is to good to be taken off, it needs to stay! the CW has already messed up my shows enough by taking them off air so much by "taking breaks" and i refuse to have to wait months at a time over a "break" for them just to cancel it. the CW needs to get it together and look at the good shows, and the shows that have had there run, Supernatural and OTH not being one of those shows.

ok first of all.. why doesn't the CW realize that nobody cares about the new shows or the MAJORLY POINTLESS REALITY SHOWS THAT ARE JUST A WASTE OF SPACE AND GIVING FANS OF THE GOOD SHOWS A REASON TO GET PISSED OFF!!!! honestly 3 of my favorite shows are on that list of the shows to be booted off and thats just not right! the CW people should get their butts on the web and read all this feedback that they are getting from fans and do something to make them happy! that is the only way that they are going to survive as a network anyway.. its all about the fans!! i know im coming on a little strong here but i mean look how many people are taking time out of their day to post what they think and how many people who have said that these shows have somehow helped them or changed their lives! that really means something! Veronica Mars, OTH, and Supernatural are amazing shows and i for one have learned so much from them as well as a few things from Gilmore Girls when i used to watch it. i mean ive even gone into school sometimes and already have knowledge of the subjects we are talking about because i learned about them from these shows. the writing is brilliant, the actors/actresses are ABS. AMAZING&GORGEOUS, and the shows because of that come out to be the best that anything on tv could be!! so pleaseeee pleaseeee pleaseeee dont cancel any of these shows because honestly if the CW cancels even one of these shows they are going to lose tons and tons and tons of viewers anyway!!!!!!! so i think they should do themselves a favor and stick with what they have rather then ruining their chances of surviving as a network themselves!!!!!!! and its a good thing that Smallville is safe because if it wasn't WOW things would be getting EXTREMELY BAD for the CW!!!!!!

So last night I watched the last episode of Gilmore Girls ever. I balled. That show was literally therapy for me. When I became pregnant at 18, already attached to the show, I watched it every afternoon at 5pm. When my son was born I'd continue watching Gilmore Girls...the first thing he ever responded to was the opening of the show. When his father left me I was absolutly beside myself....watching the show was my escape...literally, it was the ONLY thing that made me feel good about life. My son is now 2 and still dances to the theme song of Gilmore Girls. Listen, this show is the best show that has EVER made it to television. And honestly I feel like apart of my life has died. CW you suck, the only reason-and ONLY show i ever watched on this station was Gilmore Girls...without Gilmore Girls YOU'RE NOTHING

I can honestly say that if do not bring back Supernatural, there is alot of people in MN who will stop watching the CW. Supernatural and Smallville are the only shows worth watching on your network. I would be extermely dissapointed. You even have huge fan bases with the other show. Quit being so dumb about this and keep them all. Do you really have that awesome of a fall lineup that you couldn't fit those in? Maybe you can have a spin off of the crappy last model show.

Reading all these comments sure make me feel so sad, because it's unbelievable to think that there would not be anymore real family tv shows for me to watch if you discontinue MY GILMORE GIRLS!!!. A family show is hard to find on television, so when you get going with one it sad to know it have to be abruptly taken away from you like what you guys are planning to do. I'm not really a t.v. person, but since I started watching GG I just got hooked on that show and since then I got almost everyone else at home addicted to this show, because they just have to see what got Mom so drawn to the t.v. and they all just got to LOVE THIS SHOW. So, I beg you, PLEASE, PLEASE, AND PLEASE AGAIN, WE NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER SERIES OF GILMORE GIRLS. This show just make my week every time. There will be nothing else for me to watch. If you get rid of Supernatural, I won't be watching any shows on the CW! Everwood--gone! Charmed--gone! 7th Heaven--over?! Supernatural in jeopardy?! I really LOVE and enjoy watching the local/historical tales-legends of the unknown! This is what the writers, producers, directors, and the actors bring to this show! All shows! To flush them down the toliet is shameful!!!
