The show is HORRRRRIBLE this year. And this is from a gal and true blue fan who has not missed a single episode. I heard Rosenthal was a crazy misogynistic egomaniac but he is evidently also incompetent, as what was one of the wittiest shows on television has become unfunny, dumb, overly sentimental (Amy Sherman must be cringing) and just plain awful.

Rumors are things have gotten so bad, that a furious Lauren Graham has stopped talking to Rosenthal, forcing the studio to leave a junior writer on set to deal with her and make any changes she wishes. Things are not helped by the fact that Rosenthal and his girlfriend Rebecca have taken to writing nearly every episode, in a pitiful attempt to emulate the feat of the departed, missed and infinitely more talented duo of Amy Sherman and Dan Palladino. Rebecca's episodes, in particular, are horrid.

And have I mentioned the show's ratings have taken a nosedive.

Please, CW, do something fast before this one-time gem is cancelled.

I think GG is getting back it´s edge. And what´s with all these people defending Luke? Luke was a total idiot, he had her, he lost her. And now that we see Chris, well he seems to be what she needs. A man who she can talk too, without being affraid to talk, plus they have a history together. C´m on! They have a kid together, what could be more binding. Where as look just left her sided with this daughter that came out of nowhere. I think he is doing a great job, picking off the pieces of last season that reaaaaaally sucked!

Aurora, I totally agree with you about Chris and Lorelai. I have always been a huge Luke and Lorelai fan since the show first started and I was so excited to see them get together, but Luke totally dropped the ball. I still love Luke, but he lost Lorelai fair and square all on his own. He wouldn't let her get involved with the whole April thing, he postponed the wedding, it was like they were closer as friends than they were when they were engaged. Chris on the other hand has come full circle. He has said in no uncertain terms that he wants to be with Lorelai. Ever since Richard and Emily's vow renewal he has made his feelings perfectly clear. And he has really been there for her since then. The man has got his life together and he knows what he wants. I hope they are very happy together. We knows they will have beautiful children! (Should they decide to have any more.)

He contradicts himself, saying that he is a LL fan, but is excited to see CL marry?
I'm sorry, but when I thought you shipped a couple you DIDN'T want the to marry the 'other man'. My bad.

I'm sorry, but I think that DR is doing a pretty good job for two reasons:

1. He was left with such hard storylines to pull together and I think he's doing a better job then most people would do.

2. This season is soo much better then last season. Last season you could tell that ASP was getting worn out with this show. Most of the episodes had barely any plot and the actresses even hated their plotline.

I have been a HUGE gg fan from the first episode, but honestly last season I was toying with giving it up. I didn't, obviously, and thank god, because I think that this season's gone well. Yes, DR isn't a woman, and yes, he's not ASP but right now I'm thankful for that (the second of the two). I love the Chris/Lorelai storyline, because even though I was a huge LL fan for so many years, it just wasn't the same anymore. Luke was a total asshole in the last season and didn't deserve Lorelai. Chris has made his mistakes in the past, but he's more mature now, and certainly a much better match for Lorelai.

I want Luke back and the real Lorelai. Luke screwed up one time in 10 years because he got a kid. Chris was a jerk during the whole show. and he's the hero? thanks. watch this crap alone. I dont know what to think of this interview :( I dont have hope left. it just feels so wrong. I cant watch it. Its really depressing me. I want LL back :( I feel so betrayed with everything. I dont know why we deserve that after investing in LL. :(

I don't think Dave R. is doing such a bad job... I think he's doing a great job to be honest.. Gilmore GIrls is still Gilmore Girls, yes it's different but not because of the writing.. Characters are taking a new route, set by ASP in last season.. He's dealing with that and I think he's doing a great job with that...

and a little faith in Dave R. never hurts btw!

The ratings are low but not so bad. So they can't kick him out, as many of us would love to.
He said what he had to, for bearing his work.

For some reason (I may be wrong, but it looks like he said he wants - of course - another season) he ruined the show. But it's hard to understand.

Option 1: he has an agreement with Amy in order to destroy the show
Option 2: he's a masochist
Option 3: they need to launch a new show
Option 4: he feels lucky (?)
Option 5: he feels lucky and double on a contract for another year.
Option 6: he's stupid while directing Gilmore girls
